What is unique? For Stephanie and Ben unique was easy. From a ceremony that included quotes from 3 Amigos and Gossip Girl and included some of the most customized wedding vows we have ever heard, to a reception that featured the Gahr HS Drum-line and the In N’ Out Truck.
The day began at the luxurious Pacific Palms Resort high atop Industry Hills. Shortly after the soon to be wedded couple was ready, we headed out for their First Look. Ben was blown away and overjoyed when he first saw Stephanie in her beautiful and truly unique wedding dress.
Then, as we wandered the immaculate grounds we discovered a replica of the old Scottish St. Andrews Station and an abandoned funicular, or hillside railway. If you are curious like I am, then you can learn about funiculars here. What an epic photo spot this turned out to be.
As we wrapped up the bridal party photos, we all headed over to the Industry Hills Expo Center for the ceremony. With a close friend officiant, the ceremony was full of inside jokes and one liners totally appropriate for this bride and groom. All jokes aside, there was an abundance of love surrounding these two. Throughout the reception there were stories of how happy both families were for these two and how they both deserved to be so blessed.
At one point, Ben’s high school friends came out and were sharing stories from their days when in the background you could here a few beats from a bass drum. Then, completely unexpectedly, from their alma mater, the Gahr High Drum-line came and did a few performances.
As the night continued on, one of my favorite highlights was a sweet moment with Ben’s grandparents on the dance floor celebrating 76 years of marriage. Love runs deep in this family and it was truly amazing to see these families come together.
So, after being a part of the unique wedding day that Stephanie and Ben put together, I now know the answer to the question above. Unique is about taking your favorite things and highlighting them. Showing off what you are proud of and letting your friends and family express what they are proud of. And most importantly, doing what you love and not necessarily sticking to the norm because that is what is expected. Put simply unique is you.
