Before the ceremony began, tucked into the hills of Las Virgenes Upper Preseve, this Diablo Dormido wedding was clearly inspired by travel.
While many dream of travel, some actually do travel, and Carolyn and Cody founded their relationship in travel. Actually, it starts even before that, before they even realized what was happening. They studied abroad together in Spain during college but remained merely acquaintances. Then, upon returning to the United States, graduating, and moving away from each other, the powers that be brought them back together and they began dating.
Like the pure travelers they are, these two didn’t just travel together like your average couple. They quit their “lives” for eight months and backpacked together across nine countries in Southeast Asia. Through journeys up volcanoes and van rides through precarious mountains their relationship was strengthened and taken to new levels.
Then came the moment that led to this Diablo Dormido wedding day. While visiting family in Maui for the holidays, Cody proposed to Carolyn after a helicopter ride into the rainforest. And now, we have these two amazing families coming together to celebrate Cody and Carolyn becoming husband and wife.
Led down the aisle by Baloo their loyal “Best Dog”, the entire wedding party stood in front of a breathtaking panoramic view of the Upper Las Virgenes Preserve. With that incredible backdrop, Cody and Caroline shared some amazing personal vows to each others. After a few stories from their time abroad with the officiant, they were pronounced husband and wife and sealed it with their first kiss as a married couple.
After dinner featuring authentic paella, created by The Paella Artisan, the reception was kicked off with a hula and then came dancing and wow can these two DANCE! Carolyn’s sister, the maid of honor, even choreographed all three formal dances; the first dance, the mother-son dance, and the father-daughter dance.
As the night continued on, the love these two have for one another filled the air and everyone celebrated the newlyweds. This Diablo Dormido wedding was full of fun, memories, and most importantly love.
