The Alexandria Ballrooms Wedding – Magaly + JayJay

We’ve all connected with past schoolmates on sites like Facebook, but how many of us end up dating those old friends, let alone marrying them.  Magaly and JayJay first met in middle school and reconnected through Facebook with a “hey how are you.” Now their friends and amazing Columbian-Russian-Jewish-Mexican family are gathering together for their Alexandria Ballroom Wedding in Downtown LA.

Since 1906 this building has seen Presidents, Foreign Dignitaries, and Hollywood royalty. In 1971, The Alexandria was designated a Historical Cultural Monument by the City of Los Angeles. Now, after a recent restoration (but still keeping the authentic feel) the Ballrooms host not just weddings, but films and music videos. For this wedding day, it truly felt like we stepped into Old Hollywood.  

Before the Ceremony we captured this couples first look. We used one of the gorgeous stairwells, which had a modern vibe meets Hollywood charm,  almost like something out of a Black and White movie.  After that, we took photos of the bridal party and some family pics in the loft like area which had gorgeous windows from floor to ceiling.  We used these as a backdrop for some of Magalay + JayJay’s romantic photos.  

The ceremony had so much love and laughter as the couple had written their own vows. ( we really enjoy hearing these at every wedding, it really adds that personal touch).  Once the ceremony was complete, we took some more photos around this venue, including another gorgeous staircase, and even heading outside to photograph the couple on the Balcony.  Before we knew it, the reception began and everyone enjoyed watching not only the couples choreographed first dance, but the sweet moments during the parent dances.  The cake was cut, and a good time was had by all!
