It had already been a long, rainy Seattle winter and as soon as a sunny day (in Seattle this doesn’t really mean sun, but more like no rain) presented itself, we wanted to take advantage. So, we called up our good friends Airika & Gerald Pope of “The Popes”. Now, as most photographers will tell you they prefer to be behind the camera. I am no exception. I am way too self-critical and am never happy with how I look. (I am being real)

Anyway, we reached out to The Popes because we knew it was about time to replace our Facebook and BlackBerry pics and had some real professional photos taken. Sure, Josh and I could have taken photos of each other, but we wanted some together since we are husband and wife and we really haven’t had any taken together since our wedding in 2004. Being photographers, we knew we wanted someone who we felt comfortable with so that our personalities would show in our pictures. Having become friends with The Popes over the past year, we knew that they would be perfect to capture who we were and for me to be comfortable with, since we already trusted them. So we asked if they would be up for a mini session and they were more than willing.

I can’t begin to tell you how accommodating they were to squeeze us in during the time while our kids were at school and the weather was cooperating. Again, being Seattle, this was not a very large window of time. We chose Januik / Novelty Hill Winery as the venue because it is romantic but still has the modern vibe we were looking for. I froze as we took the photos outside, but beauty has its price no? As we were wrapping up, Januik was just beginning Happy Hour. We thought about sharing stories with Airika & Gerald over some wine and a delicious brick oven pizza, but parenthood was calling, so we headed home.

Thank you so much Airika & Gerald!   Thank you Januik / Novelty Hill Winery!   Thank you Seattle weather!
