“Sometimes two people just fit together like two puzzle pieces.” Never before have I heard such a perfect way to describe that indescribable feeling of when you know someone is perfect for you. This was how Adam described him and Scher in his personal vows.
It seemed like just a day or so ago that we met up with Scher and Adam at Sunstone Winery for their engagement photos in Santa Barbara Wine Country. And now we are in Orange County for their wedding day.
We started that day photographing Scher, her mom, and the rest of the girls with hair and makeup in her suite at the St. Regis Monarch Beach. After some dress photos overlooking the ceremony site, we split up to tell the whole story and take photos of the bride’s finishing touches and the groom getting ready with his best man and close family from Britain in a nearby suite.
Then we all headed out for pre-ceremony photos. With most of the family stuff out of the way, it was time to prepare for the ceremony. The St. Regis in Dana Point has some beautiful locations for wedding ceremonies of all sizes. Scher and Adam chose the Botanical Garden with its stunning ocean views.
The ceremony itself was not to be outdone by the gorgeous location. It was heartfelt and truly unique with special touches like a port ceremony, locking special vows to each other away with a bottle of port for 10 years. The readings were custom written and really captured the spirit of this relationship.
After the official declaration and their first kiss, we all headed on an adventure around the property for their first pictures together as husband and wife. With a must stop at the Grand Ballroom staircase, this venue is a wedding photographer’s dream.
As the sun began to set into the clouds on the horizon, and all the formal photos were complete, everyone headed off to Club 19 for the wedding reception to begin.
Yet again, these two made every effort to make this event special and custom. They didn’t just rely on the amazing backdrop the property provides. Instead, they handmade the table centerpieces paying homage to Adam’s home and the country where they met. They had a cute custom caricature of themselves for their cake topper. They had candy bar that featured both British and American goodies.
As the night came to a close, everyone gathered outside with heart-shaped sparklers, lighting a path back to the tram taking these two off into their future together.
