Destination weddings are a blast! Recently, we got to spend the weekend in the marriage capital of the world, Las Vegas.
We met up with TR and Curtis at the Platinum Hotel just off the Las Vegas Strip. TR and Curtis live in Houston and we live in Los Angeles, but we were all brought together for their Las Vegas Destination wedding.
Once they we both finished getting ready for their long awaited big day we headed downstairs for their First Look. When Curtis was finished admiring his gorgeous bride, we headed into the Las Vegas sunshine for some romantic photos at the Tuscany right next door. Shortly after, Chris (their son) met up with us and we got to have some fun with all 3 of them.
The ceremony was just a short elevator ride away on the rooftop overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. It was truly breathtaking to hear the stories these two shared after dating for so many years. The view was kinda breathtaking too.
After the ceremony and some family portraits, the cocktail reception was just inside at Misora, the rooftop lounge. This was perfect for a destination wedding because everyone could dance and celebrate with TR and Curtis, but also still enjoy the Vegas Lights.
We LOVE destination weddings because everyone there is focused on the wedding and celebrating. And since they are usually on “vacation” as well, they are relaxed and ready to have some fun. Thanks to technology destination weddings are now even easier to plan. Using tools like Skype and Facebook allows us to meet couples and talk to them about all their wedding day plans. And even just the ability to plan and book everything over the internet just makes everything easy and less stressful.
Whether it is a destination for you, us, or both we love to shoot them. Being in a tourist hotspot like LA we have photographed destination weddings where locations like Malibu and Santa Barbara are the destination for our couple and their families. While not a destination wedding for us, it still had the excitement and relaxed fun of a destination wedding. We have also had a few weddings where it felt like a destination wedding because we were travelling, but our happy couple and all the guests were still right at home. These are great because we get to take our style and fresh perspective to a new place, like this Staten Island wedding. And of course we must not forget a true destination wedding, just like this one for TR & Curtis, where everyone is all travelling in just to enjoy the celebration with these two.
