When we met Becca and Matt not too long ago, it was obvious that they shared a deep connection. We are wedding photographers, so we notice the subtle cues more than most people. The things like the way two people smile when their eyes meet or the way they can communicate with each other through touch. But with these two, these things are no subtleties. It is blatantly obvious that they adore each other. So what better day to marry the love of your life, than Valentine’s Day!
We met up with them at their homes in Pasadena, Matt at their new home and Becca at her old home. The girls were all getting finishing touches on hair and makeup and the guys were just starting to think about getting ready, so we had a chance to take some photos of Becca’s gorgeous gown.
From there, we all gathered nearby at St Philip the Apostle Church. After a heartfelt full mass ceremony, Rebecca and Matthew were married and the festivities could begin.
As everyone headed to Almansor Court for the reception, we stopped for some photos at the California Institute of Technology with the bridal party. Matt graduated from here and this school played a big part in their lives so, these two knew they wanted some CalTech wedding photos to capture such a significant part of their journey. So after some fun shots of the full party, we got to spend some quality time capturing the beauty of the love Becca and Matt have for one another. We were even there to witness another couple get engaged!
After the CalTech wedding photos, the four of us joined everyone else at Almansor Court in Alhambra and officially got the party started. Dinner, drinks, and dancing were had by all, but the most memorable things of the evening were the traditions these two families shared. A cowbell was given to the newlyweds that has been passed through the generations and was originally tied onto Matt’s grandparents’ car on their wedding day. A slightly sillier “tradition” was watching everyone on the dance floor lying on their back arms and legs flailing in the air as “Shout” was played by the DJ, Just Dance Events.
Becca and Matt’s faith is almost as obvious as their love. The bride’s rings are always so beautiful and sparkly and we love ring shots. But, they are even better when the wedding rings have a unique quality to them. We LOVE Matt’s wedding band with a verse from the Bible engraved on the outside of the band.
