High Fashion Bridal Shoot | Santa Monica Wedding Photographer

Last weekend I was in Los Angeles to attend my best friend’s bridal shower. I intended on surprising her, but she kind of got the clue when she started seeing my posts on emma jane photography and Couture Clicks looking for photographers for a Santa Monica Cotton Candy themed shoot on the Santa Monica Pier.
She told me she wasn’t sure, she just hoped I would come in the day before so I could attend. That would have been really mean to come do a shoot but not arrive a day earlier… LOL…
So, I came down for 3 days so that I could attend the shower, organize the shoot, and hang out with my dad and scout for houses. Did I fail to mention that we will be relocating from Seattle to L.A??? (That’s going to be another post entirely, but come summer our family is moving back home!!!)

I was a bit nervous about this being one of my first Couture Clicks and Josh wasn’t with me so I was going at it alone. I was able to stay the night before at the gorgeous and spectacular Fairmont Miramar Hotel and my room had the most breathtaking view EVER.

(I am a wedding and fashion photographer, not a landscape photographer… keep that in mind when viewing… hahaha)
This allowed me to have hair/makeup done nearby since we had an early call time.

I was lucky to have a wonderful friend, Maria, and her husband Baltazar of La Vie Jolie Photography come out early and help me get everything ready. We have known each other through facebook and it was GREAT to meet in person (FINALLY) . We all headed to the pier where we met up with 8 other photographers.

It was a smaller group which was perfect. With two sets of bride and groom models, we were able to break into smaller groups and everyone was able to direct, interact, and work with the models, so they could get their own shots and concepts visualized. It is so important to me that there isn’t just one person shouting directions and everyone else paparazzi style shooting in the background. It was great meeting and talking with all the various photographers, most of which were from the L.A. area (although Christina had come up from Las Vegas). I look forward to working with and spending time with these photographers when we are in Los Angeles permanently. After 3 hours we called it a WRAP and below you can see some of my images from the event. The main purpose of these Couture Clicks isn’t for me to shoot, it’s about bringing other photographers together allowing them to shoot a theme, a concept, or in a venue they might not ordinarily get a chance to do. This gives them time to “shoot for themselves” and that’s essential to keeping your creativity and passion flowing in this business.
