Carpinteria Beach Engagement Photography | Jennifer + Ashkon

Hearing about Jennifer and Ashkon’s Hawaiian sunset proposal sounded so magical.  Then, after experiencing Maui ourselves about a month ago for our 10th Anniversary, I truly began to understand why Ashkon chose that moment to ask Jennifer those life-changing four words… “Will you marry me?”  It really was the ideal setting, especially for them since they were already surrounded by friends and family to celebrate the occasion with.

While we couldn’t return to the beautiful islands for a dream engagement session, we got as close as we could with what we have available to us and headed up the coast to Santa Barbara County for some beachside sunset engagement photos.  Some consider the Santa Barbara area to be nearly as beautiful as the Hawaiian Islands.  Maybe we are just too familiar with it to see the comparison to the unrivaled Hawaiian backdrops, but it still makes for some gorgeous pictures.

We met up near Carpinteria State Beach and immediately rediscovered what we love about these two.  Even though they are very opposite personalities, loud and adventurous vs. thoughtful and reserved, it is obvious that these two are inseparable.  Maybe the simple bond they share of loving life locks them together.  It almost reminds me of our relationship!  We have 10 years of marriage behind us and we are still going strong.  So, there really must be some truth to the old saying “opposites attract” after all!

Knowing that Jennifer and Ashkon “discovered” each other through a group of mutual friends, but didn’t “hit it off” for an entire year is very surprising.  But I guess even star-crossed lovers have obstacles to overcome.

We have already heard so many stories about these two, their families, and their journeys but I really can’t wait for the wedding day to celebrate with these two families and hear all of the tales from Jennifer and Ashkon’s lives.

Until then, we will just have to browse through their romantic engagement photos and look forward to their big day that much more.
