What a day! Kirsten and Mika’s Houdini Estate wedding was… AMAZING! From a historic property with magic and mystery to a gorgeous couple with that genuine laid back vibe, this entire wedding was so beautiful.
The Houdini Estate is steeped in history and of course magic. All over the property, there are still caves, hidden tunnels, terraced gardens, and a deep-water tank. It was originally built in the early 1900’s and restored after it was burned in the 1959 Laurel Canyon fire. With all these options and hideaways, it really is a magical place for a wedding, but this Houdini Estate wedding had so much more than just a perfect place for wedding photos.
This day began inside the historic mansion with getting ready. With so many bedrooms among 3 different floors, getting ready was easy for everyone. From there, it was simple to find a sweet location for the first look. Among the gardens of the property, there are so many little corners and archways to provide the perfect backdrop for Kirsten and Mika to see each other for the first time on their wedding day.
Roaming this property, one is immediately taken by its beautiful gardens but there is definitely an air of mystery with all the hidden pathways and little caves allowing one to “spy” on the happy newlyweds. Set at the base of these amazing gardens, the ceremony location was just breathtaking. Surrounded by friends and family, at the base of the waterfall, the “I do’s” were personal and sweet and just exactly what everyone needed to kick this wedding day off.
After cocktail hour, the reception was underway on the manicured, terraced main lawn. Everywhere we looked there was gorgeous color and beauty, but just like the property itself this Houdini Estate wedding carried its own subtle hint of magic. With the unique furniture like ghost chairs, square clear tables, and a checkerboard dance floor, the perfect vibe was set for the entire evening ahead of us.
As the evening sped along, there was a fresh donut bar for everyone to customize and enjoy their very own dessert. With a fun, overflowing dance floor and just a perfect laid back vibe for this laid back couple, this Houdini Estate wedding was Kirsten and Mika in a nutshell and just exactly what a wedding day should be.
As the official event drew to a close, the afterparty kicked off in the home and on the pool deck. With a weed bar for their close friends and family to enjoy, along with some late night snacks and drinks inside the mansion, this was the final moment that proved this Houdini estate wedding was more than magical.
This entire wedding day was… AMAZING!
